Crypto Gambling
Crypto Gambling
So far this semester I have pointed out the positives of crypto and blockchain. However there are also some people that are taking advantage of this technology for their own benefits. This also creates opportunity for jobs in the US government as they will need developers who know how to read blockchain transactions. Let's take a look at crypto gambling. There are many different companies that offer online gambling but I am going to focus on just one company for example and they are called Roobet. Roobet is an off shore online gambling company that provides its users with access to slot machines online just like you would have access to in the United States casinos the only difference is that they are not regulated.
Roobet was created by developers on reddit forums and they use very famous influencers to promote their services. There are some famous influencers called "Neck Boys" who on their YouTube and twitch channels they promote this gambling site by gambling with their own money and share it to their audience. However during their live steams they have had slip ups and shared their online digital wallet address. Through this address online developers were able to verify that these wallets actually have never received any deposits at all. How can they be gambling with thousands of dollars to their online viewers but have never actually made any deposits? That is because they get credits from the creators of the online gambling sites to promote the site and draw new users in to deposit real money.
Crypto and blockchain is still very so it is not hard to see why some people think they can get away with practices like this. I am sure the US government will start investigating these companies in the future if they aren't doing it already. They will be needing developers with knowledge of blockchain to assist in these types of cases. I am all for gambling but not when it's off shore, unregulated, and created by a bunch of developers who code and rig the system. Debt in America is unheard of and its so easy for Americans to go into debt with these companies when they see influencers making millions of dollars online from these companies and they think they can do the same.
Always a fascinating topic, Sergio.
